COMMUNITY CROSS COUNTRY SKIING
                         TRAIL SYSTEM AND ACCESS

The goal is to have approximately 15 kilometers of groomed trail open
this season.   The proposed trail will run the looped Diamond Back Trail,
passing close to the old Diamond Peak lodge, then out to Knock Your Socks
Off Rock, following some gentl terrain back to include the old Peek of the
Lake loop.   We hope to groom at least once a week.   But, the frequency of
grooming will depend on the amount of operating funds and volunteer support
we are able to raise.
Since parking at the pull out for the old Diamond Peak XC Ski Center was an
issue for the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (they considered it to detract
from the view corridor, we suggest that users park up at the meadows and ski
along the public easement access to reach the groomed trails.   Probably the
best access point will be at the top of the old Diamond Back Trail on the
old Mt. Rose Highway where it almost comes out on highway 431.
